I feel certain that you uncovered the pressure relief hole in your crankcase
breather bulkhead fitting. For those who don't know about the necessity of
doing this and might wish to emulate your good flights I mention this. More
than one Pitts or Eagle has blown a crankshaft nose seal due to pressure build
up in the crankcase when the water vapors froze solid in the long breather tube
which exits at the tail of the plane. There it is nearly ambient temperature.
