Lookout MT is a great park, you should find all the answers to your
questions there. They'll probably recommend a Falcon as your first glider,
as it's the standard for learning, very easy to fly & light too. If you can
find a used one in good shape (have someone qualified inspect it) I'd go for
it, as you may bang it up a bit while learning...most mishaps involving
broken/damaged gliders occur within 30 days of purchase. Personally, I paid
$1500 for all my equipment (not including vario), and another $600 (roughly)
for the Hang 1 course. It's not only the purest way to fly, it's the
cheapest.
P.S. Has anyone got a cheap vario for sale?
