Subject: Recommendations for Derby UK new pilots

Hi,
I'm looking for recommendations for newbie PG training as close to
Birmingham UK as possible. I live North Brum, so the south Peaks seems like
a good idea.
From what I can tell I can either go to a full-time school at the cost of
£420 for EP, or £260 with a weekend instructor.
I also skydive, and while I'm aware that my canopy handling in skydiving is
different, are there any similarities that I can focus on that can give me a
head start? For example, I'm aware of how turbulance works, how to get the
best glide ratio, thermals and landing circuits, etc.
One point of interest is that many skydivers damage themselves turning low
to the ground - the concept of flat turns isn't taught in basic
instruction - just regular diving, spinning ones. I've noticed that PG's
use flat turns to make the most of thermals. Any thoughts?
