I fly mostly paramotors so I have a little different
desires/requirements when video filming. I've developed a foot attached
mount that allows for a cool perspective while ground skimming -- or
when reversed and pointing back -- a good view of the pilot.
It's a long strip of corrugated cardboard folded into a triangular
loop. Taped together and covered with velcro. The loop is taped/tied
onto my boot. Matching velcro is attached to the bottom of the video
camera (this is only for the smaller mini-dv cameras). A backup tether
is a must of course.
Once I have some altitude/time, I pull the camera from my chest pack,
attach the tether to a loop near the knee, turn the camera on, and set
the camera in place. Simple! And quick to dismount before landing. In
case of a hard landing, the cardboard crushes easily, preventing injury
to your foot.
