I don't understand - why are you people flying anything with a L/D less
than 40/1? Geez, I learnt to fly a Rhonlerche Ka-4 in the early 70s that
had a L/D of nearly 20/1. And even the single-engined TurboLet can get
way over 25,000 feet, and penetrate into a 200 mph headwind. Have we
really gone backwards in the last thirty years?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not decrying hang gliding, but I'm damned if I'd
fly anything which couldn't fly as high or as fast as Concorde.

Or have I got this wrong, and perhaps speed and height aren't the only
criteria for enjoying flight?
