Aloha
A while ago I posted a message looking for an small earphone for my Icom
ICA23 Nav/Com. There aren't any available and I searched the internet
and all mail order catalogs to no avail. I am a glider pilot and I
really don't want to wear a headset, which would be ridiculous. All I
really need was a small "ear bud" like the ones you use for your
cellular phone. I figured there are plenty of applications for this,
glider pilots, ultra-light pilots and many others, so I couldn't figure
out why Icom had nothing available. I finally called Icom and much to
my surprise, after talking to a technical support guy they did in fact
have a solution. They guy told me to order the following parts from
their parts department…
1. ea SP-13 Ear Phone $4.00
1. ea OPC-782 Adapter with pigtail $16.00
Shipping was $6.00
This is an adapter that will plug into the ICA23's headset plug and has
two pigtails on it. One is for the use of the mike which in this case, I
didn't care about and the other one was to plug the earphone in to.
It works PERFECTLY !!
I am so happy now, for a little over $20 I can now listen to my radio
without any problems and still hear my passengers talking to me. Icom's
phone number is (425) 454-7619. The parts came 3 days later, Seattle to
Honolulu.
Tallyho!
