Buy the latest FAR / AIM: Make sure you have the most up-to-date FAA regulations. Buy a new FAR/AIM today!

ATIS visibility reports are notoriously bad. Flying into the Winchester,
Virginia airport over the course of ten years, there were dozens of
occasions when ATIS said 7 miles or more and I could barely find my car in
the parking lot.

I reported it (not just at this airport but several others too) to the FSDO
and the airport(s). The only responses I ever got were - Nothing we can do
about it, its a known problem with the equipment. -

IIRC, the ATIS reports along the route of JFK Jr's last flight sounded
pretty good. I had hoped that might stir someone into fixing the system.

Obviously not.
