It's not the job of the examiner to correct any lack of training, it's the
job of the examiner to figure out if you're safe to fly in clouds without
killing yourself, your family, and people on the ground.

Sure sounds like a recipie for a pink slip on an instrument checkride to me.
I don't know if I buy into the hood vs. foggles debate, but the fact is
that a hood is a legitimate view-limiting device for a checkride, and if
you can't fly the plane under a hood, you shouldn't pass the instrument
checkride.
