I have them both. I also subscribed to both IFR Refresher and IFR
magazines. All are helpful in some way.
I tend to like Machado's humor; however, I actually *do* have rubber
chickens to whomp over my own head. (Actually, only one of them is
"rubber," the other three are plastic and they're meant for juggling)

In the end, learning is a very personal thing. What works for one
person doesn't always work for another. Besides Trevor Thom's book,
does anyone else have favorite IFR study/refresher texts?
