Buy the latest FAR / AIM: Make sure you have the most up-to-date FAA regulations. Buy a new FAR/AIM today!

Looks like I will have the opportunity to fly coast-to-coast for the first
time. Any advice for this California pilot making a first trek back East
this time of year? While I have grown comfortable with the local marine
layer that often brings the SNA's ILS down to minimums, I have practically
no experience with the kind of weather the interior of the country gets.
Other than being conservative as I acquire new experience, what do I need to
know? For example, at what OAT should I get a pre-heat before start?

Destinations include Alexandria, VA, Miami, Montgomery, AL and Atlanta. I'll
be departing from John Wayne, Orange County in Southern CA, looking at fuel
stops near Albuquerque, Tulsa, Louisville. Any particularly good/bad places
to stop in those areas?

thanks,

Alan
