Buy the latest FAR / AIM: Make sure you have the most up-to-date FAA regulations. Buy a new FAR/AIM today!

The cheap way to pass the test, not learn the material, is buy an ASA
Q&A book, read each question, highlight the correct answer. Don't look
at any incorrect answers. Do this a couple of times and then take the
test. The written exam is of practically no connection with learning
the material for safe operation.

Now about taking the written, the simplest way is simply to study on
your own, find a CFII or IGI and ask them to sign you off. They will
probably quiz you first.
