I'd say you're part of the solution. From what I understand, there
aren't too many instructors who are experts in the finer details of
operating the 430/530, so CFIs like yourself are very helpful.
I'm not suggesting VOR navigation be ignored, it's still the backbone
of the national airspace system.
Do you really not do any VOR or NDB navigation at all? The 430 and
530 are comm radios, nav radios, and GPS systems. Do you just not
deal with the nav portion at all?
