Buy the latest FAR / AIM: Make sure you have the most up-to-date FAA regulations. Buy a new FAR/AIM today!

Say I am about to be climbing through Los Angeles Center airspace. I get
handed off from SoCal Approach and my FIRST callup is something like
this:

"Los Angeles Center Lear 777 flight level 180 climbing flight level 510"

On subsequent contacts with LA Center during the climb am I required to
report the passing altitude. For instance, if I get handed off to
another LA Center controller can I just call:

"Los Angeles Center Lear 777 climbing to FL 510."

Or do I have to include the passing altitude to the second controller in
the same facility?

Thanks,
Karl
